ළමයින්, ගුරුවරුන් සහ පාසල් ශේස්ත්රයේ සිටින සියලු දෙනා සමග සතිමත්කම බෙදා ගනිමින් සතිය හඳුන්වා දීමත් සතිය පුරුදු කිරීමත් අරමුණ කර ගෙන 2016 වර්ෂයේ මාර්තු මාසයේ දී සති පාසල ආරම්භ කරනු ලැබුවා . තීන්දු තීරණ වලින් තොරව ,යෙදෙන කාර්යයට සිත යොමු කර , වර්තමාන මොහොතේ සිහිය පවත්වා ගැනීම සතිය යනුවෙන් නිර්වචනය කර ඇත . සමහර බටහිර ලෝකයේ රටවල් වල සතිය පුහුණු කිරීමේ වැඩ පිළිවෙළවල් පුළුල් ලෙස ප්රසිද්ධියට පත් වී , සතිය අධ්යාපන ශේස්ත්රයට අනුබද්ධ කිරීමේ වැඩ පිළිවෙළවල් ද සකස් කර තිබෙන නමුත් , ශ්රී ලංකාව තුල සතිය පිළිබඳ ව අධ්යාපන ශේස්ත්රයට අනුබද්ධ කිරීමේ ක්රමානුකූල වැඩ පිළිවෙළක් තවමත් සකස් වී නැත .
පසුගිය දසක දෙක ඇතුළත කරන ලද ස්නායු විද්යා පර්යේෂණ තුලින් විශ්වාසයකින් යුතු ව පෙන්වා දී ඇත්තේ සතිය පුරුදු කිරීම නිසා ,මිනිස් මොළයේ සමහරක් කොටස්වල ව්යුහාත්මක වෙනස් වීමක් සිදු වී ඇති බවකි. ඊට අමතරව මිනිස් මොළයේ ඇතිවෙන සංවේදී ක්රියාකාරකම් කෙරෙහි ඇති ධනාත්මක දැක්ම, දරා ගැනීමේ හැකියාව සහ ආතතිය සහ අසහනය කෙරෙහි පාලනයක් ඇති කර ගැනීමට ඇති හැකියාව සතිය පුහුණු කිරීම නිසා ලැබුණ ආධ්යාත්මික ප්රතිඵල ලෙස පෙන්වා දෙනු ලබනවා . දරුවන්ගේ ශාරීරික සහ මානසික වර්ධනය සිදු වෙන ප්රාථමික කාල පරිච්ඡේදය තුල මොළය සහ එහි ක්රියාකාරකම් වල වර්ධනය ඉතාමත් වේගයෙන් සිදු වෙන නිසා සතිය පුරුදු කිරීම තුලින් එම වර්ධනයේ ධනාත්මක බලපෑමක් ඇති කළ හැකි බව පෙන්වා දෙනවා. ඒ වගේම පාඩම් වැඩ කටයුතු කෙරෙහි ළමයින්ගේ අවධානය වැඩිදියුණු වීමක්, ගුරුවරු සහ එකට සිටින ළමුන් සමග සහයෝගයෙන් කටයුතු කිරීමේ දියුණුවක්, වාර විභාග වල දී ආතතිය සහ අසහනය අඩු වීමක් සහ ගෙදර පරිසරය තුල සෞඛ්ය සම්පන්න පැවැත්මක් , ළමයින් තුල සිදු වී ඇති බව සතිය පුරුදු කල පාසල් සහ විශ්වවිද්යාල වල කරන ලද පර්යේෂණ තුලින් පෙන්වා දී ඇත.
ශ්රී ලංකාව තුල සතිය ඉගැන්වීමේ අඩිතාලමක් වශයෙන් ස්වකැමැත්තෙන් ඉදිරිපත් වුන පාසල් සම්බන්ධ කර ගෙන වැඩ පිළිවෙළක් දියත් කරන්නට මෙම පර්යේෂණ වලින් ලබා ගත් තොරතුරු ඉමහත් බලපෑමක් ඇති කළේ ය. ඉන් පසුව, ප්රාදේශීය පාසල් වල කරන ලද සතිය හඳුන්වා දීමේ සාර්ථක වැඩ සටහන් වල ප්රතිඵලයක් ලෙස සියලු පාසල් වල විදුහල්පතිවරුන් සහ ගුරුවරුන්ට සතිය ඉගැන්වීම දිරිමත් කිරීම සඳහා අධ්යාපන අමාත්යංශය ඉදිරි පියවර ගනු ලැබුවා. මෙම මැදිහත් වීම නිසා අද ලංකාව තුල ජාතික අධ්යාපන ආයතනයට අමතරව කොට්ඨාශ, කලාප සහ ප්රාදේශීය අධ්යාපන ආයතන වල සතිය හඳුන්වා දීමේ වැඩ පිළිවෙළක් දියත් කරන්නට හැකියාව ලැබුණේය . සති පාසල විසින් ඉතා සරල ලෙස ඒ වගේ සිත් ගන්නා ලෙස ලියැවුන උපදේශාත්මක රචනා මගින් පාසල් සිසුන් හට සතිය පිළිබඳ ව මනා වැටහීමක් ලබා දෙන්නේ සතියෙන් ඉඳ ගැනීම, සතියෙන් ඇවිදීම සහ සතියෙන් ආහාර ගැනීම සහ සතියෙන් සවන් දීම වැනි ප්රායෝගික මග පෙන්වීම් පාදක කර ගෙනයි. පාසල් වලින් ලැබෙන ආරාධනා මත පමණක් සති පාසලේ ගුරුවරුන් ලංකාවේ පාසල් වල සතිය උගන්වනු ලබනවා.
වර්ෂ 2018 වන විට සති පාසල සම්බන්ධ වැඩ සටහන් සහ ක්රියාකාරී කම් ජාති සහ ආගම් බේද වලින් තොරව සියලු දෙනාගේ ම යහපත සඳහා පුළුල් වූ පරමාර්ථ පෙරදැරි කර ගෙන මුළු ලංකාව පුරාම ව්යාප්ත විය. පාසල් සහ විශ්වවිද්යාල පමණක් නොව සෞඛ්ය සේවය, රාජ්ය ආයතන, සිර ගෙවල් , පාර්ලිමේන්තුව සහ පුද්ගලික ආයතන යන සැමට සතිය හඳුනා ගැනීමට සහ පුරුදු කිරීමට අවස්ථාව ලැබුණේය.
මෙම සති පාසලේ නිර්මාතෘ සහ එහි නායකත්වය දරන්නේ තම ජීවිත කාලයෙන් අවුරුදු හතළිහක්ම සතිමත් බව පුහුණු වීම සඳහා කැප කළ ථෙරවාදී බෞද්ධ භික්ෂූන්වහන්සේ නමක් වන මීතිරිගල නිස්සරණ වන සේනාසනයේ ප්රධාන සංඝ නායක, සහ කම්මට්ඨාන ආචාර්ය උඩ ඊරියගම ධම්මජිව ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේය.
දිගු කාලයක් සතිය පුරුදු පුහුණු කල, ස්වේච්ඡාවෙන් ඉදිරිපත් වූ පිරිසක ගේ අප්රතිහත ධෛර්යයෙන් සහ කැප කිරීමෙන් සති පාසල පවත්වා ගෙන යනු ලැබේ . වර්ෂ 2017 දී සති පාසල “සති පාසල පදනම” වශයෙන් ලියා පදිංචි කරන ලදී. -

Sati Pasala was established in March 2016 with the aim of sharing mindfulness with students, teachers and everyone in the school community. Mindfulness is classically defined as the ability repeatedly bring our bare attention, on purpose, to the present moment, non-judgementally. Although the practice of mindfulness is widely popular and has been integrated into the education systems in certain Western developed nations, in Sri Lanka it is yet to get established in a systematic manner.
Neuroscientific research during the past two decades has convincingly shown how mindfulness results in certain areas of the brain undergoing demonstrable structural changes. In addition, certain functional changes which positively affect emotional regulation, coping skills and better management of anxiety and stress, have been demonstrated. During the formative years of a child when the growth of the brain and its functions are very rapid, mindfulness has been shown to have a positive influence. Studies done in schools and universities have shown that students showed improved focus at academic work, better relationship with peers and teachers, less stress and anxiety during exams and that relationships with family members were healthy.
These findings had a major influence in the decision to commence Sati Pasala as a grass-roots level initiative involving schools that volunteered to join the program. Subsequently, after successful completion of several programs in provincial schools, the Ministry of Education took a lead role in encouraging teachers and Principals to also be exposed to mindfulness. This resulted in introduction of mindfulness to Provincial, Zonal and Divisional Education authorities, in addition to the National Institute of Education. Sati Pasala programs conducted in schools include familiarizing students with simple and interesting instructional essays on mindfulness, followed by practical guidance on mindful sitting and mindful walking, mindfulness during play, mindful eating and mindful listening. Sati Pasala Mindfulness Facilitators have been visiting schools on invitation only.
By 2018 Sati Pasala program had evolved into a broad, non-sectarian, non-religious mindfulness movement in Sri Lanka, where in addition to schools and universities, the message of mindfulness and its vast benefits are being shared with multiple sectors such as health care workers, government officials, prisons, the Parliament and those in the corporate sector.
The architect of Sati Pasala is a senior Theravada Bhikkhu with a history of practicing mindfulness for nearly 40 years. Venerable Uda Eriyagama Dhammajiva Maha Thero is the Abbot and Chief Meditation Master of Nissarana Vanaya, a forest monastery in Sri Lanka.
Sati Pasala Mindfulness programs are facilitated by a team of volunteers who are practitioners of mindfulness. In 2017 Sati Pasala was registered as a foundation (Sati Pasala Foundation). -

A message from Venerable U Dhammajiva on the Global Mindfulness Summit
The Global Mindfulness Summit will be a forum where leading personalities who practice and teach mindfulness will gather for a two day event on 24-25 February in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The event will be an academic-spiritual-scientific platform for sharing ideas and experiences to promote mindfulness in a non-sectarian, non-religious and apolitical manner, so that we address current issues in society. -
